Memories...

Yesterday being the typical Monday it was I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of doing this post...nor visiting the cemetery. So...I'm doing it today!
It's been 2 years now, since I lost my Granny...She was my teacher, from a very tender age she was passing on all her skills to me...something I'm so Thankful for today! I can remember at the age of 5 she was give me squares of fabric to hand piece together into quilt squares (I would give anything to still have those squares today). My mother gave me a treasure trove from Granny's quilting chest after her passing...she saved patterns with the pattern name attached to them, so I'll know exactly which ones were her favorites. I really need to do some quilting...but it never seems there's enough time. Her mother was still alive back then and she taught me how to crochet...I believe I was 6. I have her crochet steels today. I learned to knit at the age of 8...using pencils. She taught me to cook, garden and how to can the harvest. She gave me the platform in which I've built my spiritual beliefs today...even as I strayed away when I was a teenager...I came back to what I knew was right! We (my brother, my favorite cousin and myself) spent every weekend at Granny & Granddaddy's house...oh, what memories!

Yes, I was a young mother and I'm so glad that my kids had some of the same memories of them as I do!
This is a picture from the last Easter Sunday (2004) we shared with Granny...I really do miss her very much. But the legacy she has left with me will last for as long as I can share my craft with others!
I Love You Granny...and I Miss You!

Monday...

Yes another Monday...and a typical one at that! My buddy GourdonGirl had this on her blog...so I *borrowed* it

Pretty cool...give it a try...see what you learn about yourself! Mine was pretty much dead on!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' Walking and Pickin' (boy this is getting longer and longer)

Fiber Events...& a FO!!

Well, I'm gearing up for Hawks Nest...and looking forward to the short work week ahead! WooHoo!! I received a fiber related email on Friday that left me simply giddy! Nope...no hints, I'll have pics to post later...

You know all about my "join ability" these days, and I'm sure if you've been reading long enough you know that when I found out about Kimberly's NASCARKnitters KAL...I HAD to join! The problem I'm having is I'm knitting from my stash and most of it no longer has labels, I don't have a proper scale to weigh them on so I'm really guessing, using yardage or going by what the pattern calls for!

Remember this? (my birthday present from NC last year)

She has a *cozy* now!!! This weeks last FO!

Next weeks fiber related FO's will be mostly spinning related since I'll be at a *Spinners Retreat* for 4 days!!!
The Civil War Shawl KAL begins on Thursday...so hopefully I'll have something to knit on while traveling! Kimberly...check out the difficulty factor on this baby!

So this weeks fiber totals and FO's are as follows:
Item: Baby Booties - IK pattern (of course I altered the pattern)
Yarn used and amount: Plymouth Dreambaby approx. 72 yds

Item: Cabled Headband - Chick Knits Pattern
Yarn used and amount: Handspun North Ronaldsay approx. 85 yds

Item: Felted Bunny - Fiber Trends Pattern
Yarn used and amount: 100% wool (from the stash...no label) 250 yds used.

Item: Tea Cozy - Fiber Trends Pattern
Yarn used and amount: Sensations Bellezza Collection (from JoAnn Fabrics) Wool/Cotton blend approx. 75 gms or 150 yds. (this happens to be a pretty amazing yarn considering where it came from)

Well...my walking was back on track till today! We awoke this morning to sleet on the ground but thankfully now it's raining. We had planned for some biking and hiking while in WV but the weather forecast isn't looking to promising...so we are not going to take the bikes and hope that we can get our bi-annual hike in! There are some beautiful waterfalls on two of the trails!! And for anyone who is interested in Geology...the rock formations along the cliffs of the New River are amazing!

Keep Knittin', Spinnin', Walkin' and yep...I'm a Pickin'!!!

Hoppin' Good Time!

Bunnies...Bunnies EVERYWHERE!

It's nearly 6 weeks till Easter and Bunny Rabbits are here!I started and finished a project for my precious niece~Maggie!

Here's bunny prior to felting...yeah, Mr Ace isn't too happy about sharing his bed!

Here's bunny after felting...

Now...for my Nascar KAL I need to keep a count of my fiber amounts.

Since I'm using yarn from my stash and I have no way of weighing it, so...I'm going by the pattern amounts...which is in yardage!

This little fella took about 250 yards (combining the 2 colors). And of course it is a gift...I don't know if I get a bonus for that or not?! I used the Fiber Trends pattern "Bunny Fun" it's an extremely quick and easy knit!

And for the finished project...

Well...almost finished~~He needs a tail! I'm NOT good at making pom-pom's, I tried and failed so I'm going to plop a store bought tail on his behind!! (the grass in the basket is....yes...yarn!)

When I arrived home today...there was yet another bunny~~in my mailbox!

My Snowbunny...I ordered from Scout! Let me say that it's absolutely gorgeous in person!

This is going to be my Calorimetry! Speaking of projects...have you noticed my growing list of projects? You just don't even know...that's only the tip of the iceberg...I have more fiber/yarn for more projects and I still continue to buy more!

The weather has warmed up and I've gotten back on the walking path (no pun intended)! Today the wind is terrible but my buddy JH (who is blogless at the moment) helped me to not back-out on walking today! Are you with me Bobbi?

JH and I are in the planning process...there are 4 Tuesdays in March...and on those days we are going to be enabling 10 - 3rd-5th graders into the world of knitting! Yes, I'm going to be teaching knitting to kids!!! Wish me luck...I need all I can get!

SEVEN days and counting!!!! Hawks Nest...and boy do I ever need it! 4 days of nothing but fiber...and spinning!!! I'm going to be meeting another blogger there...named...Robin (good name huh?), and I'm very much looking forward to it! She held a Knitters Retreat in January that I hope to attend next year!

Mr Ace is in my lap and is very insistent that I pay attention to him....right NOW!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin', & Walkin'!!! (Yep...I'm still Pickin')

Feelin' Better & FO's!

Well, now that I'm feeling better I feel more like blogging! The *Crud* hit the worst on Valentine's morning...I didn't leave the house until Saturday when hubby suggested I go with him to the store, which I must say, felt good to get out! We had a skiff of snow Saturday night but the big *IceStorm* they predicted for last week ended up a REAL dud! The mountain tops still look *fuzzy* (that's what I like to call it~anytime it snows or gets icy)...so yes, it's still COLD! This week it's supposed warm up...which will get me back on my walking miles!

My WONDERFUL hubby brought me a dozen of these:

On the Knitting Front~~
Kimberly has a new challenge...boy, I'm such a joiner these days!!? Yes, you can call me a redneck...but remember I literally grew up in this environment! My family was involved in NASCAR for 9 years (I'll have to find pics of me and the crew in our uniforms!) and my Dad used to drag race...my earliest memories were corn dogs at the dragstrip!

So...this one is right down my alley...gasoline alley?! AnyHoo...something new! The challenge for me is going to be keeping up with the amounts I knit!

Yesterday I finished...

Lammi Ewejean decided to come out and model for me! Made from my handspun North Ronaldsay that my Buddy GourdonGirl sent to me...quick knit and it took about 70 yards to complete!

Also completed were these adorable Baby Booties for my son's friends who just had a little girl! Now I just need to make sure they get them before she's too big to wear them!

Made from leftovers from the baby sweater I made for my co-worker.

The little baby sweater is almost complete...just the sleeves left to go!

I'm still working on the Celtic Lattice Vest design...I'm just so NOT sure it's going to work like I want it to! I REALLY, REALLY don't want to work with bobbins on this pattern...I have the facing done...that's it...when I realized how many bobbins I would have to work with it's not my idea of a fun design! So, IF David has more of the Black Cherry Moonrise I'm going to buy some and use that instead of the Dolphin Dance! WHICH--means guess what's coming up...10 days and counting~~Hawks Nest Retreat!!

My Jaywalkers are almost done! BUT...I'm really ready to use some larger needles on a project!!

I've ordered my yarn for my Civil War Shawl KAL, which starts March 1st!

And yet....another Mr Aceman sleeping position!

Where's his head...and where's his tail? I just wish I could find a way to record him snoring!! Like father...like son!!

Well, gotta go play with my new toy!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin', Walkin' & Pickin' (yes...I'm a grinnin')!!!

IT'S HERE~~IT'S HERE!!!

Think about the movie "A Christmas Story" as you read this:

***FRAGILE***

Is it an award? No, but it feels the same way...tearing open the box...ripping out the paper (picture it flying through the air)...finally~

There it is...in all it's glory...wrapped in plastic (darn...one more thing to rip through)...

My new Mountain Dulcimer (or some call it an Appalachian Dulcimer)! Please bear in mind though I come from a very musical family I was given the gift of craft...not music.
When we walked in Mark Edelman's shop...who, by the way, teaches at John C Campbell School, I knew I would be going home with one, well, I had to wait for a couple days but that's okay. I knew I had one. He had me playing within 5 minutes...it truly is a very easy instrument to play. He told us the history of how the Scotch/Irish immigrants created an instrument that would produce the same *drone* sounds of a bagpipe...I knew I had to have one. A few years ago we visited a dulcimer shop in Meadows of Dan, VA and I really regretted not getting one then...but there was a reason~~this instrument called to me! It's made of spalted curly maple and the picture does it no justice at all! It's BEAUTIFUL! Notice the *birds*?!

I've been sick just about all week and haven't left the house in couple of days...this perked me up! Seriously, I am feeling better...this made me feel that much better!

Thanks to everyone who guessed...I thought I might fool ya!

Only one person came close to guessing what I bought and I think it is because she's from the area and knows from personal experience! My new friend Nancy at the Smoky Mountain Spinnery, she guessed I bought a *hammered dulcimer* close~very close. A hammered dulcimer takes much more skill than I can muster! If you are reading Nancy, I'll have you something in the mail in a couple weeks...when I get back from Hawks Nest!

Well...gotta go mess with it!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin', Walkin' and....Pickin'!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I hope all your sweeties are good to you this Valentine's Day....

Here's my Valentine to you!

(you can send this card through LionBrand, I just thought this might be a little easier than filling in all those email addresses!)

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' & Walkin'!!!

Something to Share...

Yet another IceStorm is forecast for tonight...yeehaa~~I hate ice...I'll take SNOW anyday!

Well, I've had some very interesting guesses about my last post...1 very close guess! I've already spilled the beans to one loyal reader so there is one person who knows the answer...nope, I'm not giving any more clues!

The reason for this post is to share something. When I was at Smoky Mountain Spinnery on Saturday, the owner Nancy places one of these small cards in each persons bag...I want to share it with you!
Smoky Mountain Spinnery's Motto
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our ATTITUDES.
Author of "Attitude"--Chuck Swindoll
So true...so true!! I think it would be a good idea to post this at work...so as to remember it's how I react to what happens...
Stay tuned...I'll be posting pics of my new surprise as soon as it gets here...sometime towards the end of the week!! WooHoo!!!

Home Again...Home Again!!

It's always nice to come home...not nice to have to work once you get home~~That's why I took the day off!! Hee Hee!!

Warning**This post will be long winded...full of links....and pictures!!! Come on the venture with me...

Had a GREAT time in Gatlinburg (TN)...because...I was with my Honey~~and~~we found some FANTASTIC places to go back to and you really should go visit! Now for those who are not familiar with the Geography, Gatlinburg is in the Great Smoky Mountains just on the Tennessee side...opposite Cherokee, NC (remember we were there in October). I've been visiting here since I was a very, very small child...my first visit I was 3 years old (and I can remember very clearly)...some of you know how old I am but I'm not tellin'...let's just say it's been many, many years!
In many ways it's very disappointing to see how some of the ways that Gatlinburg has grown, tattoo parlors-5 different Ripley's Believe It or Not Museums-Tee shirt shops (which you would expect but, every other storefront?)-knife shops (and I'm not talking about pocket knives--swords and ninja knives??) and there were 5 that I counted! Sorry, I don't mean to paint a negative picture here. I'm getting to the good part...bear with me a minute! I remember when you entered town you could see all the way to the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain Park...now the high rise hotels and high rise malls really obscure all that! The traffic was bumper to bumper, it reminded me of going to Myrtle Beach and trying to get down the Grand Strand--but, being semi-familiar with it I new a couple of back roads that got us from point A to point B quicker. They can't build anything new including roads because this is located in the Mountains and backed up next to a National Park!

Okay...now for the good part!! You know that every time we go some where I have to scope out the *yarn/fiber shops* in the area we are visiting....I think I've found the BEST so far (for me that is~and maybe even you)...
Smoky Mountain Spinnery (no website) -her moto-"History at Work"~ Which happened to be less than a mile from where we were staying!!

The owner Nancy Thompson (and her husband Harold~stay tuned) ARE by far some of the nicest people I've met on my ventures! And Nancy's shop....oh my! Decorated with spinning & weaving antiques just adorable, but (in her words) as she put it she needs more room...her husband won't give up anymore room (more on that in a minute) but, she has managed to make the best of what she's been given! There's not so much in yarn as there is in FIBER!!! She has some basics in the yarn and the majority being in natural fibers. But the FIBER....she had an old apothecary chest filled with anything from cotton ~ silk ~ cashmere ~ yak....I think you get the idea! She started spinning with her Grandmothers wheel (I hope I have this fact correct~my brain just goes haywire when I'm in such a fine establishment~I don't retain like I should), which is on display in the shop and interpreting for students at a Festival they used to have in Union, TN (where she's originally from). There was a huge barn loom in one back room!! Yes, I'm still toying with the idea of learning to weave! She had some of the cutest stuffed Alpaca's a local lady made...each one doing what they love to do! (these were taken with my cell phone--not the greatest pics)

I could keep on but, I must tell you about the other 1/2...Nancy's husband Harold has the second half of the shop~

Smoky Mountain Angler...one of my other enjoyments of life...fishing (we also stopped at the new BassPro Shops in Sevierville on the way down)! Now you tell me...if your husband is an angler and you a knitter/spinner/weaver...isn't this the BEST! Your husband would NEVER rush you out of the store, in fact I bet you'd hear...."Take your time~spend as much as you want"

What did I buy?

Fiber...Fiber and more Fiber!!! Surprise you?? I bought 4 oz of Yak, some Silk hankies, sock yarn! I also bought a couple of patterns but didn't think I had enough room to put them all in this post. Oh...I almost forgot to tell you!!! I held in my hand the equivalent of gold...fiber gold! Nancy went to her secret hiding place in the back room and brought out 1 oz of this unbelievable and unbelievably expensive fiber...she let me hold it...and PET it!!! Vicuna fiber...$300 dollars worth!! ONE OUNCE COSTS $300!!!! OMG!!! I would be terrified to spin it!

Okay...now on to our next find (where we spent the rest of the day)~~

The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community

This is an 8 mile loop of nothing but local artisans selling their craft! Potters, woodcarvers, musical instruments, leatherwork, spinners, weavers and many, many wonderful Art Galleries!! THIS is what Gatlinburg is all about for me...not the part I told you about in the beginning!! We logged in 2.5 miles of walking !! Driving along the countryside is wonderful as well...Some of the shops we visited:

Alewine Pottery (where I bought my pottery)

Primitive Thymes

Cliff Dwellers Gallery

Smoky Mountain Dulcimer

Ogle's Brooms

Ownby's Woodcrafts

Jim Gray Gallery

Buie Pottery

Hand Leather

Byrnes Woodcrafters

Karen Emily Designs

and on...and on....

We have to go back because this being winter many of the shops like the Spinning Wheel Crafts and Wild Plum Tea Room (there are others too many to list) were closed until late March. A reason we MUST go back!!

I didn't get to do as much photography and hiking in the park so yet another reason to go back! Anybody wanna join me?

There's one other surprise...I will not tell you what it is I bought but I will give you a small hint until it gets here (it'll probably be a week or so)...I bought myself something that represents my Scotch-Irish mountain heritage! If someone does guess it I'll send you something but I'd be very surprised if you do get it! No more hints...I'll tell you when it gets here!!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' & Walkin'!!!

My Weekend HAS Arrived!!

Yes, you heard me correctly...my weekend has already started!! Hubby and I are off to Gatlinburg, TN for our annual Valentine's trip. Every year we go somewhere...anywhere to spend some quality time alone! Hope to get some trail walking in, shopping, knitting, reading and relaxing! I've plotted out some places to appease my need for fiber...you know a junkie always needs a "fix"! Oh...and about the *Destashing* or *Knitting from my stash*~~well...I lasted longer than I thought I would! Yesterday I bought THIS and then I had to have THIS (I've been drooling over it since I read about it a few days ago) ! I'm pathetic...can't even last 3 months!

I'm so excited I have 12 comments from yesterday's post!!! That's the most EVER for me!! You like me...you really, really like me!! WooHoo!

One other note from yesterday's post...MsK, sorry I didn't explain too clearly in the post but the cast-on for my vest is a provisional cast on...it's actually going to be black and turquoise--sorry to mislead you my dear!

It's very cold but the bright sunshine is slowly melting our snow...see I told you we needed more! So here's another picture to share...
My Daffodils started coming up last month! Looks like an early Spring huh? What did Ole Phil say we were in for?

I can finally post picture of our Groups new car magnet...so if you see one of these on the road~~honk!

I hope you all have a safe and fiber happy weekend! I'll try to be in touch but don't begrudge me if you don't hear from me until Monday or Tuesday!

Oh...and I've hit the halfway point at last!!!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin', & Walkin'!!!

Guess What!!??

IT SNOWED!!! FINALLY!!!!

Just not enough to keep me home from work!

Darn it!

Depending on where you were at depended on how much you got! At home we had almost 4 inches...at the library I think it was about 3 inches.

So on the way home I had to stop at one of my favorite spots for photography...our Lake Spring Park or as we locals call it "The Duck Pond"

Yes, those are Seagulls you see...I don't know what makes them come here but they arrive every February and stay till late March! I guess someone took a wrong turn years ago and they've just kept coming! There's no lack of food for them...many people go to the Duck Pond to feed the ducks...or have lunch and give them their leftovers!

I've had days like this...

This poor duck is having a bad hair feather day!

When I got home I found my Library Fairy faithfully watching over our pond...but with the cold temps and snow cover I couldn't see the fish, I just hope they will be okay. It's always a worry I have and 3 of our oldest fish have survived 5 winters! It's kinda like Forrest Gump said "...Like a Box of Chocolates"!

On the KNITTING FRONT~

Guess what this is?? Buehler....Buehler...Buehler???

I've cast-on for THIS!!!! WoooHooo! Stay tuned for my progress...

And in case you've been worried about the (as Ms K puts it) *CowKitty*...he is eating again~~because I gave in and bought him his regular...FatCat food!!

This is one strange cat....hates fish...loves chicken~~Especially chicken fat...which explains his *utters* belly!

I'm getting small walks in...I don't have a gym or Y membership so with these cold windy days I do what I can!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' and Walkin'!!!

DUCK!!!!!

The Day After...

In Sports today:
Well, how many happy Colt's fans are out there? I know hubby and BIL are VERY happy! I did watch the entire game...and was disappointed when the Bears didn't win but it was still a very good game...I spent the entire day in my PJ's and I spun all day long (not continuous...otherwise I'd be *saddle sore*)!

This is called "Amazon Ambiance"...cool name huh? 100% Blue Face Leicester! It's, of course, some of David Simpson's *fluff*!! I'm going to suggest to him at Hawk's Nest (you can also find pictures of the winter 2005 retreat HERE) that he needs to take some pictures of his colorways and put them on his webpage! Either that or you need to come to Hawk's Nest with me either this March or in September...so you can see for yourself all his beautiful colors!

BTW~it spoke to me as I was spinning and said it wanted to be a lacy scarf! I have 250 yds so I'm going to have to work on finding the pattern...suggestions?

Now...on to the Weather:

You know it's cold when...the *sheepie* and El Gato are fighting to hug the heating vent!

Mr Ace knows he's NOT supposed to be on the back of the couch...especially when Momma is sitting on it (the pillow type back is collapsing under the weight of one said El Gato! He's also very angry at the fact that Momma bought him some *good for you, organic* catfood...he's currently on a hunger strike. Now that bit of news probably should come under a different news heading than weather! Maybe~~"Tragic Current Events" (in his eyes it's a tragic occurrence...remember cats are *Me People*).
He's beggin' like a one-eyed cat left out in the cold! Yeah...right!

It's so cold I cannot go out and walk...there's just now way! It's days like this I wish I had a gym membership so I could use a treadmill. I'm so close to the halfway mark...

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' & Walkin' (if you can)!!

SUPER DAY...

Today is Super International Pajama Day....AND the SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!! What better way to celebrate than by staying in your PJ's ALL DAY LONG!!!!?

Now, I have a dilemma...we have lunch plans with our friends. I think I have a solution and it will be my secret for the hour or so we are with them...I'm wearing my PJ's under my clothes!! They'll never know...unless they read my blog!

About the Super Bowl...well as we all know MY team isn't in it but I still love the game so I'll be watching and cheering on the...BEARS!

My menu for the BIG GAME is...Chicago Hot Dogs! Hubby is cheering on the Colts...much to his chagrin, but he's doing it because his favorite brother is a Colts fan. The reason hubby doesn't like the Colts goes back a few years when they were "run out of town" in Baltimore! Now dont' get mad at me that's his opinion, you see he was a huge Johnny U fan and besides finding out Fess Parker was not Davey Crockett it was one of the MAJOR dissapointments in his life! In his eyes they should have changed the name....but anywhoo there will be a rivalry in the house tonight!
Well...the couch is calling my name...
Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' & Walkin'!!! (It's too darn cold to walk today!)

Happy Birthday Kim!

Today is my FAVORITE cousin's 40th Birthday! And yes there was a party for her!! WooHoo!! This is the one I made the socks for. But I also helped her Mom put together a shadow box for her...I was asked to post pictures of it so here they are!

I love doing shadow boxes! This one was very special because it was for a VERY special person...the picture in the lower corner of the box is of Kim wearing the dress and shoes in the shadow box.

Here's a closer view:

My cousin is one of the mose compassionate, sweet, loving, generous, patient, talented people I know! Of course I'm the oldest of the family but as children she and my brother and I spent weekends at our Grandparents house from Friday night to Sunday's...and loved every minute of it! I have so many wonderful memories shared with them, and now that we are adults and have families of our own we don't get to spend too much time together.

Here are the 3 stooges amigos!

Yes, I am wearing my Moorish Sweater!! and NO, I'm not wearing a Tiara! I managed to get by without putting one on...

No walking accomplished today...it was cold and windy today, I really wanted to get the the halfway point today and I woke up this morning feeling a little stuffy. I just hope I'm not coming down with something! I'll try to get my walking done tomorrow!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' & Walkin'!!!

TGIF!!

Friday at last!

Your Blog Should Be Yellow

You're a cheerful, upbeat blogger who tends to make everyone laugh.
You are a great storyteller, and the first to post the latest funny link.
You're also friendly and welcoming to everyone who comments on your blog.

So...what makes a good blog? I get lots of traffic on a daily basis...BUT--I would like some more feedback--Do you like what you are reading?
Maybe I'm not as funny as I think I am but after all...this is my blog--My Knitting & Spinning Blog! I do enjoy making people laugh, after all the medical community have studies showing that it's good for you...along with knitting & spinning!
I know sometimes my posts are not knitting related but I read lots of knitting blogs and each one is individual...I enjoy reading about the kids...hobbies, pets and, of course, learning new techniques and tips.
And YES, I know I have a very twisted sense of humor...I try not to offend anyone, if I do--I'm sorry...but this is where I can vent...try out my stand-up comedy routine and show off my hobby!
Let me know if I'm doing my job...

Oh...the weather that was forecast DIDN'T happen and today was a very good day for walking...so I made up some ground (no pun intended) and got in 3.5 miles! I only have 1 1/2 miles till I'm halfway--and I'll get that in tomorrow!

One other tidbit~I received a PERSONAL phone call today...from a company that I had contacted via email looking for their product locally...I received a prompt email response but, there were no LYS that carried it but the obliged me with a list of shops which I could purchase from.
They called me today! To discuss their product and if I had found any...to which I responded not yet but I'm looking...they are sending me a sample of their fiber~BUFFALO FIBER! Oh...you need a link don't you--Check out Buffalo Gold! Such nice people...you talk about customer service!! I had a wonderful time chatting with them and I WILL make my purchase their products! I was very happy to learn that they just picked up a Virginia shop as a retailer...I'll gladly share:
Needles In The Haymarket
15125 Washington St.
Haymarket, VA. 20169
703-659-1062
Now...this is in the Washington DC area...but I can always talk Hubby into going by there!! *Wink~Wink*!
On their website you can find plenty of retailers and apparently they are expanding with each show they attend!

A New Month...

February's Calendar Quote:

"Friendship is a sheltering tree"--
Samuel Taylor Coleridge

I'm very lucky to have the friends I have...virtual & personal.

I would love to and hope to meet my blogging friends some day! There are those *blogging buddies* that though I've never met you...I feel as though I've known you forever, we've forged a friendship that I know when we do finally meet in person...it'll be hard to part us!

My knitting buddy:

Yep...I caught her off guard! Hey...Got that bag finished? She has the patience of Job...she's working on a modular felted bag that I would have ditched by now, and I think I can withstand most any poorly written pattern! Maybe I didn't catch her off guard....maybe she was pondering throwing it in the fire!? I would have!

You know one of my favorite website is StuffOnMyCat.com...Mr Ace is in training (much to his dismay) to one day make it on the pages!! Don't we look happy?!

Of course his real fear is that Momma will make something that looks like this? It's *Coop* appropriate!

Errata---It's times like this when one wonders where her head is? Yes...I live one county away from the Moonshine Capital of the World (of course, there are many other counties in these mountains laying claim to that title)...but to make such an error as the name of my yarn?! The previous post was about my latest spinning...the REAL name of the colorway is "Black Cherry MoonRISE"--Maybe I want some Cherry Moonshine?!?! I don't even try to get into my brain....scary place!

Very little walking these days...short stretches....

But...

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' & Walkin'!!
