Weather~~

Personally, I can't and won't wear "butt-floss"~~BUT, I DO own a couple pair of pantaloons!! Do you know what women's underwear of the 1700's looked like? Any guesses?

Is it warm where you are? No? Well, it's not here either...in fact, the weatherman has bad news for us yet again. Yep, more ice is on it's way! I certainly hope he is wrong and we get snow~~but, something tells me it's going to be pretty nasty!

Hey, maybe I'll get another "knitting day" out of it?!
You don't know how POed librarians get when you don't come in...our library DOESN'T close for bad weather. Gotta keep those internet junkies happy! The library isn't just about books anymore!

**begging for more comments guesses here**

My CONTEST ends on Sunday. Thanks for all the really great guesses~~currently there is a three way tie going right now, so someone's gotta break it for me!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!! (Turtle, you can keep on spittin' if you want)

***Edited 5:30am Friday Morn***
Weatherman wrong...no snow....no ice....no rain (yet)...Have to go to work!

Monday~Monday...

Come on sing along with The Mama's & The Papa's

I know...I know...it's Tuesday, but this post is all about yesterday!

Maybe we could sing Cat Steven's Tuesday's Dead?!

While I'm on a roll....how about we head into tomorrow with Simon & Garfunkel's Wednesday Morning 3am (of course, at 3 am I'll be asleep)! Boy...I started something here...I had to go find video's on YouTube!

My buddy Krafty1 sent us a very nice surprise!

Let me tell you...she had this box stuffed!!! No wonder it was taped so tightly.

Check it out~~

There is so much to comment on I'll let you take a look for yourself! There's the cute little lamb for Landon, I'll be putting that right in the mail to him. I wish I could deliver it in person but we won't get to go see him until next month..boo-hoo!
I'll be taking the superwash merino roving to Hawks Nest with me to spin!! I love the colors...it's called~Fruit Salad!

This I'm having LOTS of fun with...
(she REALLY knows my twisted sense of humor)
He "crows" when you shoot him across the room...let me tell you, the cat is freaking out! She also thinks I'm a "Smart Chick"!!
There are goodies for my sweet tooth...Hubby a "CheeseHead" biker pin for his collection! King pepermunts...love em, and they can't be found around here!! Cups for camping along with a cookbook, which we WILL use and think of our WI buddies as we do so!

Oh...

....and...

New glasses!!

(ewww...look at that double chin, and I've got to do something with my hair)

RIBBIT!!!

I think they are frog goggles...correct me if I'm wrong but I thought of Kermit the moment I saw them!

Thanks Krafty...you know your "Cosmic Sister" really well!! I hope things begin to warm up your way, or you can come here for a visit! I can't guarantee a warm greeting...our days are up & down on the thermometer these days! However you can see grass!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!

Whew...

Finally it's FRIDAY!!! Here lately I find it so hard to post mid-week, by the time the day runs down and I unwind...I'm asleep!
In other words...I've got a lot of making up to do!

I've had lots of guesses in my Contest, some very close...but if you haven't entered give it your best shot. You have another week to enter, comments will close at midnight on Feb 24th!

I've been meaning to share with you one of Hubby's latest creations!

If you're a new reader you may not know about his "relaxation therapy" (though there are times when a flute won't sound when one would wonder if it's really a "good therapy"~I've heard words and seen flutes flying through the air...really!)
He's revamped his website and started working with turquoise & malachite inlay. Go ahead enlarge the picture and look at the detail...if you want to hear what they sound like he has sound clips on his website.
All in preparation for Old Salem Days in September, he and my SIL will share a booth selling their crafts. Should be fun...though I've managed to stay away from downtown on this day for the past 10 years or so. Oh, I had my antique car in the annual car show one year (I think it was 1995)...but in my old age I don't handle the crowds very well!
I need to pull out a picture of my car and show it to ya!

I showed you a shot of my Winter Jasmine encased in ice the other day, well, it's in FULL bloom right now and beautiful...it's so nice to see flowers in the gloom of winter!
Now, last week (the 11th & 12th) we had 70 degree days...then it got cold again...the winds kicked up on Sunday! We had a maximum wind gust of 67 miles per hour with sustained winds of 45 mph for hours and hours, this caused LOTS of damage and literally hundreds of fires, one of which is still burning. Many, many people were without power for days...including Son#2 (Milo's daddy). We didn't lose power here but we lost lots of shingles off the roof and branches out of our tree out back! My pond was full of trash & leaves.

BUT...I think there's hope...

A sign? Hope??

I'm ready for Spring...what about you??

I do have Knitting progress to report but no pictures~

Kauni~can you believe it? I've cut the other armhole!! Woo-Hoo...I didn't even give a second thought to cutting it this time...I AM FEARLESS!!!

I do have a TOP SECRET Project I'm working on, can't show you until "the party of the first part sends it to the party of the second part"!

Let the Pattern Search Begin....

How I spent my Saturday~~

Dyeing Eva Braun.
Now if you remember I said I wanted a color sort of like what a Lil Granny would get by going to a Beauty School for her monthly color job...you know that shade of blue (sometimes they come out lavender/purple).
I know from all my other "dye experiments" you are never guaranteed a particular color...that is unless you are an expert~~which I'm not!

To begin with I think I need a bigger pot!

Of the colors I purchased I debated between~sky blue, turquoise and navy blue. I only wanted a color wash so I made a weak dye bath using sky blue.

Double, double...toil and trouble!

Here we are simmering...and waiting! I was really scared that it wasn't as weak as I thought, the water was so blue!

...and the laundry is hung out to dry!

This shot isn't true to color, I guess because of the blueness of the sky...the yarn looks more green.

But the resulting color is what I would call teal or blue/green turquoise. I'm not at all disappointed.

In fact, I'm very excited...let the pattern search begin! I have a couple in mind but "The One" hasn't spoke to me yet!

I believe this calls for a contest! With all the calculations done...can you guess how much yardage I have? Leave me a comment on this post with your guess...the closest one wins! I'll leave this contest open until Feb 24th. Oh...be sure and tell me if you are a spinner or a knitter~~this will help to determine your prize! Remember, I AM going to the Hawks Nest Spinners Retreat at the end of the month...where there's lots and lots of fiber to buy! Like I need another reason to purchase fiber!

Thank You...Thank You...Thank You!!!

I know I have lots of catching up to do...first and foremost I MUST say...

THANK YOU!!

The power of all for your positive thoughts, energy & prayers were heard!
Little Landon is okay...his tests all came out negative! I know I left everyone wondering what was going on but I was so afraid that I would jinx him. I know that sounds weird, but I was afraid that if I said too much to too many it would come true. They were testing him for hydrocephalus, which once you start reading (and believe me I was doing all sorts of research, maybe too much) all about it scares the crap out of ya!
This is proof positive that there is great power in prayer & positive energy!!!
Whew...I think I took my first real breath in 2 weeks! I think tonight I'll be able to have a REAL good night sleep!

Has it really been nearly a week since posted? Not to mention on Monday morning I was hit by a head cold too!
Last week was the Super Bowl, though I really didn't have a favorite I did think it was a great game...for a change!

Here's my table, I always go way out...ready for any unexpected guests. But...it ended up being just the 3 of us.

Well that is unless you are counting Milo!

We had so much fun, and he's such a good puppy! Of course, Mr Ace was less than amused! Little does he know it's going to happen again and again!

Oh...and I won a contest~~

Alabama Fiber Dreams sent me this prize!!

I can't wait to spin this up...it has a little angelina fiber in it...and the colors are beautiful! Along with one of her handmade stitch markers...if you are interested check out her Etsy site.

Thanks again...

Please continue all that positive energy towards the folks who were hit by the tornados this week.

Blushing....

Yet again I've been Awarded...and I'm blushing! Not only because Terri thinks I make her day but also because I forgot to add this to my previous award.

Terri and I were paired up for the Knitters Treat Exchange, though we are literally a half a world away we've become good friends. How in the world could I have forgotten to add this to my previous post? Terri...forgive me...please! All I can say is when the "gray matter" comes to the outside...(which I have my kids to thank for~I can tell you who gave me each one) memory fails!!
I'm not so sure I can come up with 10, I'll do my best!
1-Shona~the BEST Secret Pal, my twin separated at birth.
2-Bobbi~my "Cosmic Sister"...who paired me up with #1 during Secret Pal 8.
3-Carole~I simply love her blog, read it everyday...another blogger I hope to meet someday.
4-Terri~you are fantastic! Thanks for all your encouragement!!!
5-Chan~a recent BlogBuddy, and as sweet as she can be!
6-Cass~who makes me laugh out loud and have run to the bathroom...come on girls you know what I mean.
7-Tanya~My buddy and a member of the Fab5...
8-Anne~PURE inspiration, what more can I say?

Okay...so I'm having difficulty with this, so I'm stopping at 8...I know there's only 2 left but I just can't narrow them all down! The blogs I read on a daily basis provide me with "something" or I wouldn't be reading them! I don't expect you guys to name your 10. I just wanted you to know that you guys DO "Make My Day"....everyday!

Thanks again Terri!!!

Das Ende!

NaSpiMoMo has ended and I can proudly say that I met my goal...To spin EVERYDAY during the month of January!

Remember my Eva Braun? This is a first for me, I hope it works: (I have no idea why the title page is fuzzy)

Well, I there's only 1 rolag left to spin!

I've yet to calculate how much yardage there is, it's 12 WPI and I'm guessing there's about 2000 yds.
However, there's one more step before I can begin knitting. I'm going to overdye this with a light blue...all I really want is...well, "Lil Ol Lady" color!
I have'nt even begun to put a dent in my spinning stash...and Hawks Nest is coming up!!
So...I may extend NaSpiMoMo into February!!!

Guess who's coming to 'pend the night with G-Ma!! Milo's coming...(and Ace is SO excited...hrumpf)!!!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!!

Awarded!!!

I've been awarded the "Gracie's Golden Blog Award"!

First I'd like to thank Cynical Knitting Gal for honoring me with this award, I'm glad I appear to be a "Fearless Knitter" but if you had seen me sucking on my glass of wine and petting my Kauni while trying to muster the courage...you'd know...

I'm a real chicken!!!

You know, I hate looking at a weather radar map and seeing PINK! Though it makes for some beautiful pictures...(this is my winter jasmine beginning to bloom)

it also causes power outages! Luckily my spinning wheel and knitting needles don't require electricity. We're back on now...obviously~~either that or I have Mr Ace running on a treadmill. Yeah right, he was upset because his bed wasn't "On" (for those who are new~his bed is heated).

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!!

Oh Me....Oh My!!

Okay...okay already...please put down the cattle prods!

You don't know how hard it was to do this!

I can't watch...but wait I have to, because I'm the one using the scissors! I tried to get Hubby to do it but he said "NO WAY"! To him it's like making a piece of furniture only to cut it in half and glue it back together again.

I did have a little help...

Yes...that bottle is empty! ...and it was goooood! (hick)

Alright...here goes...

You don't know how many times I assumed this position in the last week only to back away! This is hard!

Look at that...

Easy-peasy...why was I fretting over this? I only have 3 more steeks to cut, better visit the wine store first!

What else has been going on?

Today is the last day of NaSpiMoMo, I don't know if I'll reach my goal or not but I'll be showing you all my hard work in the next couple of days!

My truck goes in for "surgery" on Monday...

...and one week from today Little Landon goes in for his procedure, please keep those positive thoughts and prayers going his way!

Well, better get to the spinning wheel!

An ice storm is heading this way, if I'm lucky I'll get a knit/spin day out of it!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!

Bucket List

My "Cosmic Sister", Krafty1 has come up with an ingenious idea that I think is going to take the Knit BlogWorld by storm.

My Bucket Basket List (my bucket wasn't big enough, doesn't look like my basket is either)! I have included some of my spinning fiber, 'cause....well, there's plenty of that too.
This doesn't EVEN begin to touch my stash/queue list, only a small sampling of projects I want to cast on for...and like Bobbi, I too have more than 60 items (and growing) queued on Ravelry.
I was going to show you all the odds-n-ends stuff I have on hand for "One Skein" projects, but that was a bit much too!

So...what's on your Bucket List?

One Week and counting...

Mark your calendars~~Next Sunday is a VERY special day! Not only is it Super Bowl Sunday but it's also...

SIPJD

(I was going to post about this last weekend and forgot until Krafty reminded me this week...how in the world do I forget such an important day?)

So, will you wear Patriot blue & red or Giant blue & red PJ's?

****WARNING****

Picture of Cuteness ahead~~

Guess who had the opportunity to puppy-sit yesterday?! I wore him out.
Yep, he's in ONE of Ace's Kitty Pi beds. Which is okay with Mr Ace so long as he stays out of his heated, fleece lined, snuggy bed!

Oh and I almost forgot, Diana tagged me for a "Glimpse of What You're Reading"
Rules are: To open the book I am reading, turn to page 161 and copy the fifth sentence on the page! This definitely gives you a teenie tiny glimpse!
This should sound "crazy" to you~~
"Say Thank You?"
And you are asking yourself what the H3LL I'm reading? "Crazy Aunt Purl's Drunk, Divorced & Covered in Cat Hair" by Laurie Perry. Love IT...she's a riot!

Who am I tagging? Anyone reading this who feels like participating...just let me know so I can read your "sentence"!

Progress??

Lady...step away from the sewing machine!

I'm really tired of telling myself that so...

I DID IT...well, this much anyway!

Next~~

Now I need to be able to pick up my scissors without my hand shaking like Barney Fife holding his pistol!

I'm not the only one having issues...

Momma, I can't watch!

I want to Thank You all for your kind words...please keep that positive energy going!

Says It All....

Except around here it's been a bad week!

I really don't want to go into all the details at this time but please have my Little Landon in your hearts, thoughts and prayers. He will be having a "procedure" performed in 2 weeks that is very scary. I promise I'll explain later, but right now we wish to remain hopeful and optimistic by waiting for the results quietly.

Oh...if you are in the "contest" mood hop on over to Cass's blog for her #444 contest! Tell her I sent ya! Hurry, contest ends on Sunday the 27th!!

One good thing happened this week, I won a contest myself...Thanks Jessi!

Panic?!?!?!

The time has come...

I'm at the "cutting" part and I'm sweating! I know I HAVE to do it in order to pick up stitches for the sleeves...I've been to the sewing machine twice and walked away.
I think I'll spin and get my courage up!
I don't think I can do anything else while watching "The Games" today!
Go Packers!!! Today (and hopefully again in 2 weeks)...I'm a "Cheesehead"!!

How I spent yesterday...

Well, I was invited to go to the home of one of the gals from our Knit/Spin group for a day of fibery fun.
That didn't happen~

I was side tracked unexpectedly, "Favorite Niece" Maggie came by wanting to put a puzzle together with Aunt Robin~~I couldn't say no.

Then...

My DS called to ask if I could "BabyPuppy sit" while he helped my brother with a project...I couldn't say no to that either!
We had a blast!!!

I finally got to some fibery fun last night after everyone left!

BTW~almost $5000 damage on the truck...ouch!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!

O Happy Day!!

I'm a Happy~Happy Chick today....

The weatherman was right! Last night I had convinced myself we would get sleet and freezing rain, which may yet still come later today. So far we have almost 4 inches and it's still coming down!

What's on my agenda for today? Well, I got up early went into the library and completed the one task that "They" throw a fit about having to do if I'm not there...came home turned the truck over to Hubby, who also had to take DD to work too.
Now, I'm going to take my walk in the snow...

Then I'm going to sit and spin...

Hope you enjoy your day!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!!

Update~~
I received this picture from DS~~

He LOVES the snow too!!

Also...
Hubby didn't make it to work...he wrecked my truck! He's okay...I haven't seen the damage yet. So, maybe I'm not so happy a chick today...

Hey...I still love the snow!

Blah~Ugh & Grumble...

Where did the week go? (Feeling blah...) I'm a "Slacking Blogger"!!

Re-entry this week was tough after 2 weeks of working only 3 days each....ugh! So, I had Friday off but that didn't help much because of the schedule of things I had to do....grumble!

So while in the "waiting room" for my truck to be serviced I finished Milo's sweater!

Bashfully kindly modeled it for me...

Turned out pretty cool...huh? And this is the first FO of 2008!

He even posed in Milo-mode...

I took the sweater to Milo's proud father only to receive this Pix-message on my phone late yesterday afternoon...

I must admit I was disappointed he didn't attend Maggie's Birthday party. Isn't he the cutest little thing?

Mom's birthday was on Friday...we shared a very nice lunch. I quickly knit up a Calorimetry using Paton's Classic Merino Wool, boy I like that yarn!

Today, I'm feeling pretty crappy...going to stay inside, wrapped up and watching football~~

Let's go Cowboys!!

It's a Boy!!

My new "Grandpuppy" arrived on Friday @ approx 6:30pm, 7 weeks old but I have no idea of his weight just that he's tiny!
Meet Milo...

Isn't he just precious?
He was so tired by the time he go to my house after visiting several others on the way he slept the entire time.

So...I started the little fella his first sweater! After all, it's only 70 degrees outside!

What did Mr Ace think? Oh, he sniffed him over and went to his bed for his 'umpteenth' nap of the day...just wait till the little tike starts nipping at his heels!

What's in a Name?

What Robin Means

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. (rebel...YES!) You're always up to something. (yes)
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. (intense?)
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun. (trouble=fiber/yarn enabling)

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you. (yes!)
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself. (apparently they are thinking of someone else close to me on these 2 sentences)

You are full of energy. You are spirited and boisterous. (I don't know about boisterous)
You are bold and daring. You are willing to do some pretty outrageous things. (you should have been around a few years back!)
Your high energy sometimes gets you in trouble. (high energy....I don't know about that)
You can have a pretty bad temper at times. (VERY rarely)

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. (tightly wound...Nope) It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. (what?) You don't stick with any one thing for very long. (Wow...now they are stretching it a bit)
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start. (I ALWAYS finish my projects!)

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. (NO)
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. (absolutely NOT) You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
(Wait a minute...now you are grasping at straws)
