Celebrations, Traditions & Rituals

I was on such a roll, I can't believe I missed a post yesterday!

Happy Winter Solstice! Today marks the day that the days begin to get a little longer as each day passes...meaning Spring is right around the corner.

This is a fantastic little video, beautiful music as well (R.Carlos Nakai is a favorite of mine):

For those of Jewish faith tonight is the beginning of Hanukkah

What ever you celebrate here's wishing you the Happiest & Healthiest!!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!

I always kind of wondered why the day when the days begin to lengthen would be considered the first day of winter. If I remember right, in some ancient societies, solstice was Midwinter. That makes much more sense to me.

In my mind, winter starts the day after Thanksgiving anyway. Fall starts when football season starts, and spring starts when the first flowers come up. Makes sense to me.

It all depends on where you live, I think. For us, winter is upon us. My feet are still cold this morning! ;)

I love that picture you used for the Winter Solstice. :-)

Although, it's hard to believe it's winter when it's supposed to be 68 degrees tomorrow. Blech.
