On a Happier Note ~

Milo came to visit us this past weekend...well, really he came to visit Rudy -- we're a side note now. They played, and played, and played until both literally collapsed...snoring...loudly!!

We're all grateful for the kind thoughts from Dolly's passing. I tell ya, it's hard to lose a "furbaby" and I KNOW it's not going to be easy when Ace, Rudy & Milo's time comes. I CAN tell you this...our furbabies will have the BEST life we can give them while they are here with us -- And my parents did no less for Dolly.

She was a rescue dog from a very bad situation at the age of 8 mths old. This young couple got her because she was such a cute puppy (as all bassetts are--something about those ears), they spent no time with her...no training...no playtime, then their baby arrived. Dolly was relegated to a much worse existence, tied with a 3 ft. rope to a pole in the basement of their house. When Mom found out she made them an offer...thankfully they took it (or it would have gotten ugly). Dolly was Mom & Dad's 3rd Bassett Hound. Now of course the pain they are feeling now is the obvious..."I'm not going through this again!" -- but I tell you I've heard that before. They've NEVER been without a four-legged furbaby! Hopefully Rudy & Milo (oh and Daisy & Duke aka The Terrible Twins -- my brother's 2 boxer puppies) can give them some healing and love till then.

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!

Your furbabies are adorable. I know how you feel. You want to love and care for them with all the comforts you can provide. Your parents will heal and so will you. But healing is not forgetting. Hugs!

Rudy and Milo are so cute together.
Time will heal the pain, and only the happy memories will remain.

Love those happy, furry faces. I can't imagine life without a dog, or even, without a basset hound.

My parents said the same thing, but time helped. About 2 months after Puck passed, they adopted Marley, a rescue from South Alabama. I'm keeping your parents in my thoughts.

Rudy and Milo look precious together! :-)

OH, they are so cute! Rylea was sort of a rescue. Well, not sort of. She was. A friend of mine had gone to the pound and picked up all the puppies and kittens that were due to be euthanized the next day. She took them all to the Wal-Mart parking lot and sat there all day until they'd all found homes. Ry was one of those puppies.

It is best to put a bit of space between the pain of loss and a new pup. It allows you to honour the life just lost by grieving properly and fully. I tried to give it a year after we lost our dear old Binky (we didn't name him - he too was a rescue) but I only lasted 10 months before I fell hopelessly in love with Bloke and brought him home. Your parents can take comfort in knowing they gave Dolly such a wonderful life. Ironically Binky was 8 months old too when we rescued him. Rudy and Milo are ADORABLE. :)

That is just too much cuteness in one photo! :)

I hope your parents come around again & get another furbaby. Unfortunately my parents didn't this time when they lost their Aussey.
