Let the Pattern Search Begin....

How I spent my Saturday~~

Dyeing Eva Braun.
Now if you remember I said I wanted a color sort of like what a Lil Granny would get by going to a Beauty School for her monthly color job...you know that shade of blue (sometimes they come out lavender/purple).
I know from all my other "dye experiments" you are never guaranteed a particular color...that is unless you are an expert~~which I'm not!

To begin with I think I need a bigger pot!

Of the colors I purchased I debated between~sky blue, turquoise and navy blue. I only wanted a color wash so I made a weak dye bath using sky blue.

Double, double...toil and trouble!

Here we are simmering...and waiting! I was really scared that it wasn't as weak as I thought, the water was so blue!

...and the laundry is hung out to dry!

This shot isn't true to color, I guess because of the blueness of the sky...the yarn looks more green.

But the resulting color is what I would call teal or blue/green turquoise. I'm not at all disappointed.

In fact, I'm very excited...let the pattern search begin! I have a couple in mind but "The One" hasn't spoke to me yet!

I believe this calls for a contest! With all the calculations done...can you guess how much yardage I have? Leave me a comment on this post with your guess...the closest one wins! I'll leave this contest open until Feb 24th. Oh...be sure and tell me if you are a spinner or a knitter~~this will help to determine your prize! Remember, I AM going to the Hawks Nest Spinners Retreat at the end of the month...where there's lots and lots of fiber to buy! Like I need another reason to purchase fiber!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!!

I love your description of the color you were trying to get out of the dye. I can see my grammie with her lady friends at the salon all sharing pics of their grandkids while getting their wash and set for the week. LOL

I'm a new knitter.
Yardage: 2825
Pattern Suggestion: with Spring coming I would go for a twin set, cute tank with a matching one button sweater/jacket. Tank and jacket/sweater would hve a common eyelet detail. SOmething ala Rowan.
