Tragic Monday...Part 2!

Okay...so everyone knows about the tragedy at Virginia Tech today. I live a mere 25 miles from this campus...and my city is a College town, Roanoke College is right here with in shouting distance...this could happen here or anywhere for that fact! I've watched the news all day....yeah, just like a train wreck--stupid me I couldn't stop watching. I know people who are on staff and plenty of my daughters graduating class are freshmen there. But I'm angry right now, not only because of what happened but because the National media is doing it again! Pointing fingers and forgetting about the families who are grieving their losses. If you watch the reports you'll see what I'm talking about....
Come on Katie (and all others) hind sight is 20/20...point your fingers and ask your questions at an appropriate time. Don't make the families feel worse. Yeah-yeah, we know there's going to be plenty of lawsuits out of this...You can't control or predict what crazy people are going to do!!!
BUT THESE FAMILIES ARE GRIEVING!!

Sorry...please forgive my rant...I've gotta go knit for a while!

I'm sorry that you're so close to this tragedy. I hope that no one you know was hurt.

I've been ranting about the same thing to hubby all evening. Let's play the blame game so that the media can feel better about pinning it on someone. So sad :(

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Today was so awful! My DH and I agree that there could be no way to predict everything like that could ever be seen. How dare Katie suggest it!

Tragic indeed, heard the news initially from a phone call from my son who is outside Norfolk right now, then I did yard work and with every step focused on sending loving thoughts to all effected.
I was hoping when Katie got the job that she'd be great, but in my book she's just really not..I can hardly believe some of the 'stuff' that comes out of her mouth via brain... seriously, I will shake my head in disbelief and have quit watching her. I'm not at all surprised by what she has said this time.
Don't even get me started on the media getting up into the faces of students, family and friends while they're obviously in shock and/or in so much pain. It's truly ruthless behavior.

I'm disgusted with CNN right now. Instead of trying to get every student you interview to say something negative about the "2 hour gap" why don't you focus on grief counseing, what to look for in people facing Post-traumatic Stress, how to talk to children about tragedies like this, etc??? Better yet, if there's no new info about VT instead of making stuff up as you go along, why don't you report on something else going on in the world??
I just wish we could focus on healing, grieving, etc and stop with the finger pointing. Save it...there will be plenty of time for that LATER.

Right on, Sista! I am soooo sick of and disgusted by the sensationalism from the media. Such inappropriate questions. And, you're right about that pointing finger. Just disgusting!

It's been truly horrific and the wounds will take eons to heal. On a UNC BB someone writing under "Boone the Airedale" wrote, "Blame is the wail of anguish when control is unmasked for the illusion it is."

How true. We, none of us, have much control in life yet we think because we say yea or nay it will come to pass.

The media has sold their soul and is now trying to sell ours as well. They will stampede the idea that it's better to be safe than free. An idea that frightens me out of my wits!
