Whiskers on Wednesday~~

I think as cat owners we've all heard this saying...

Well that's never held so true until now! I think you know Mr. Ace is a VERY spoiled feline, well...I've now become his concierge and NOT because I wanted to!
In order to "solve" a few problems in the litter box area we bought his a very fancy "throne" in which to do his business...very much like this one~

He seems to like it though he requires that I hold the door for him as he enters, then I must leave to give him privacy. (demanding puss huh?) He'll soon be expecting me to stand there with a warm towel over my arm...but I tell ya, he's NOT a good tipper. I get the same excuse every time "I'll catch you next time, I left my wallet in my other pants!"
HOWEVER, (I bet you knew that was coming) Sunday morning I didn't listen to his demands to GET-UP-AND-HOLD-THE-DOOR at 5am so...

...he left a little pile just outside the door of the new litter box! We DIDN'T purchase the little mat you see in the picture. Who's sitting there glaring at me as I clean it up...that's right Mr. Ace himself!

Guess what I did...taped the little door open! HA!!!!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!

Ah, what we won't do for our pets. You would be amazed at the luxuries afforded Milo in this regard. I shan't go into detail.

My last cat let me know when I'd upset her by pooooing on the side - the OUTSIDE - of her litterbox. Touchy creatures, aren't they?

(And inquiring minds want to know... does the taped up door suit Ace?)

I have yet to find the litterbox Squeaky likes. She usually poops on the floor in front. Hence, moving her litterbox into the bathroom. At least it's short trip to clean it up.

Word Verification" flogist--what I'm going to become if this cat doesn't start pooing where she is suppose to.

Ours is one of those boxes too... not quite as fancy looking. But it had the little flap and I knew if Henry had that, he'd be scared of it, so I pulled it off (and I think it was meant to come off). Maybe try yanking yours off? LOL

Our first cat used to get upset when my mom would go away for long periods of time, and when she came back home (like 2 week holidays) he would pee in her bedroom!

We were having some litter box troubles for a while, but ours was a case of one particular cat not being able to fit all of her fat self inside the covered box. lol Puss would get her front half in and her butt would be hanging over the edge. We ended up getting one of those super large open boxes.

Although, I did get a tip from our vet. Purchase one of the BIG Rubbermaid tubs (w/lid). Using a saws-all, starting at the top, cut a opening into the front, just like on a regular litter box. Fill it with litter and put the lid on and you've got an affordable, covered litter box.

I was going to suggest you might just try cutting the flap-door off. I mean, what happens when the tap fails, just as he is going in and the door hits him in the head or something! He might be scared of it or something and refuse to go back in at all!. Or he is going to start to expect you to come back and open the door when he is done.... What did he do if you weren't home to open the door for him?
