Here we are.....

It's now February 2018, 4 months since my last post...I'm trying to get better here!

A lot has happened--The day after my last post my baby girl turned 30 years old!

My baby boy became a father (2 weeks early) to a beautiful baby girl named, Emmeline Mae, I'm in love!

Thanksgiving and Christmas flew by, as usual!

So, I finished a couple sweaters:

Comfort Fade Cardi
(Madelinetosh DK)

Mon Manet (a test knit for Laine Magazine--yet to be released)

I used Lolodidit yarn in the Hippo for New Years colorway.

....and I picked up a hibernating UFO--

Torino (no longer in print)

I bought the pattern during the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics--started it during the 2012 Sochi Winter Olympics and put it to bed till NOW.  It's well over halfway done but I guess I just got distracted.

This is going to be the year of the garment for me.  I've focused so much on gift and baby knitting, it's time for some sweaters.

Now.....let's see if I can post again within 4 months!

...and the baby knitting continues! From the stash of course--this is a fun pattern to knit. VERY quick, can you say "instant gratification"?




You remember this post Well...my hairdresser LOVED THEM! She's going to send me pictures of the "baby girl" wearing them, of course we have a little bit more to wait before she arrives.

I have been sewing too...I couldn't post this till the gift had been "gifted"--but as you've probably read my favorite cousin had a birthday this week. I have had these items stashed away for quite some time now so the idea came to me to make these--

I know it may seem "garish" but these ties belonged to her father (my uncle that just passed away last month)and our grandfather. There's just more sentimental value to these than anything else.
I had intended (and still do) to make myself a "tie vest" but I thought it be more fitting to make Kim one first.

Are you ready for the Super Bowl?? My menu is set...started cooking today...it's all about the food, commercials and OF COURSE----FOOTBALL!!!!

....translated simply as Happy New Year!
This is the year of the Rabbit, Rudy and my Chinese zodiac symbol. I have a favorite Chinese restaurant (25+ years....) that we won't get to tonight to celebrate but maybe over the weekend. I personally, know the owners well...I should the entire time I was pregnant with Chase I CRAVED one of their dishes, ate it at least once a week.
They've had the same placemats as always...the ones with the Chinese zodiac on it.

I'm glad some things stay the same...

So, what does it say about me?

Occupying the 4th position in the Chinese Zodiac, the Rabbit symbolizes such character traits as creativity, compassion, and sensitivity. Rabbits are friendly, outgoing and prefer the company of others. They also prefer to avoid conflict. In confrontational situations, Rabbits approach calmly and with consideration for the other party. Rabbits believe strongly in friends and family and lacking such bonds can lead to emotional issues.
(FYI-the last sentence rings SO true, part of the reason why things have been so bad for me lately)

Rudy got a haircut yesterday! Mr Handsome!! ...looks like I'll be knitting more out of my baby yarn stash--his groomer is expecting, a baby girl!!

Yet...another Monday

...with bad news related to last weeks post. The beautiful Gazebo you see in the background was destroyed on Thursday. A truck parked up on the hill was NOT placed in park, only the emergency brake was applied and it failed, causing the truck to roll down the hill and BOOM....

This is a landmark in Salem...the original one was built in 1841 and was on the old Courthouse lawn, later it was moved and for many years a local band played regular concerts in it.

It will be rebuilt...right now it's still laying in a heap where it once stood.

Oh a happier note....wish my lovely husband a Happy Birthday will ya?

Rudy cracks me up...he'll put up with just about anything if I ask him to. We've discovered a new talent, we're trying to catch him on video...but apparently he's camera shy.

I play the harmonica and he goes to it...I get so tickled that I can't keep playing, not that I can play and that's probably what he's trying to tell me!

This Sunday is Bark in the Park at the baseball field...we're going! This is a fundraiser for our local SPCA, what a FANTASTIC idea!! Pssst...I've ordered Rudy a Red Sox jersey!

Before I get to far into the post I want to wish my Cosmic Sis, Bobbi, a VERY Happy Birthday -- Hope your day is as special as you are! She may not post today but please go by and wish her a Happy B-day!

Rudy came home mid-day yesterday...boy let me tell you I missed him even though he was gone no longer than me being at work. Coming into this house without that little face to greet me was a hard thing to do.

Actual knitting content!

I have less than an inch to complete on sleeve #1 -- Yippee!



Trying to get the entire piece in framed really "muddles" up the patterning. It really does stand out more than the picture shows. This is such a fun knit, of course, I love cables so that's probably my opinion only.

Can you believe tomorrow is March 1st? Come on Springtime...and here they're calling for a chance of snow!?
