Funday!!
Yesterday I had some fun! A couple months ago Hubby and I answered a casting call for a new movie (Alone Yet Not Alone due out latee 2011) being filmed at Explore Park, our old playground...that we hope will come alive again after all this.
I GOT THE CALL!!! So, after doing the essential job at the library I headed on out to the park...and along the way the view was fantastic!
Then the WOW factor hit...the upper parking lot to Explore Park was FULL--like I haven't seen it in quite some time!
I reported to the staff...was logged in...sent to wardrobe (of course I came with my own)...and then to make-up--to get "dirt" & hair. Upon receiving the call I was told that we'd be portraying 1760 Philadelphians. Now, I have NO fancy clothes since Hubby and I only portray pioneers (1750-77)--so, I started to panic. Oh, I know they have wardrobe but I really wanted to wear my clothes. (note to self--time to make fancy clothes) I took the best outfit I own and the rest of my clothes. The costume director didn't like my best, saying it looked too good! Good thing I brought the other things...the ratty clothes I wear for dyeing demos & cooking!
Will anybody recognize me??
We filmed in front of a "green screen" which should make the final product interesting. I'm very anxious to see how it all comes together. I'll keep you posted as more info becomes available with the movie.

Time Travel Upgrades...
I bet you didn't know you could upgrade your time travels?! But sometimes it's necessary.

Shawnee style Moccasins
During the 1700's when our pioneer ancestors were out on the frontier they couldn't just pop into Walmart for a new pair of shoes, so when their shoes wore out or they just found out how much simpler and MUCH more comfortable it was to make their own many turned to the Indian style moccasins. These are Hubby's new shoes.

This nice 100% raw linen fabric--
...will become a new pair of Knee Breeches. (boy, these men can go through some breeches, I think this is the 4th pair I've made for him...in 5 years)
I have to share the cover of this book, it's one of my favorites that I use for most of my 18th century projects. "Tidings from the 18th Century" by Beth Gilgun
This is a John Buxton print (one that I want REALLY bad)...do you see the spinning wheel strapped to the horse? Oh yeah...that would be ME!!
"Honey, you want to move where...to the frontier?" "Then you'd better find a place for my wheel!"
