Grin & Bear it!

What do you do when a "muggle" cleans out her mother's things and gives you this?

Her mother passed away over a year ago, she's just now gotten to the point of being able to approach the task of going through her things. (not something I want to even think about) She sees me knit every week at our Weight Watchers meeting...and thought of me when she found this. I graciously accepted, only DD had the funny look on her face. (does she know me that well?)

Once I dug to the bottom of the bag I found that the Unger Le Tweed was bought at the LYS I used to work at, at about the same time as when I worked there...do you think I could have sold her this yarn? Wouldn't that be weird?!
I think it would only be right to find "the perfect" pattern and make her a sweater out of it. As for the Sayelle...I can't touch it, much less knit with it. I'll donate it to a nursing home or other charity. (yes, I'm a wine snob and a yarn snob!)

Check out the price tag...

How long ago what this purchased?? If you follow the link, you'll see that Herrschner's no longer offers it but their last price was $.97!!

Keep on Knittin' & Spinnin'!!

I feel your pain. I'm actually going through my stash and clearing out the stuff I bought back when I was a knitting noob.
A friend of mine recently gave me tons of acrylic stuff too, its all going to my mom's charity group.

Been in that situation myself... you are handling it well.

Yep, that happened to me a couple of years ago when my mother cleaned out her stash. Lots of the stuff in there was my grandmas. My cousin has been talking about cleaning our her stash as well.

I don't have a problem with acrylic, but I seldom knit with anything larger than sock yarn any more. All the worsted and bulky yarn is just sitting there in my closet. I already donated a bunch of it to my son's art department at school, but I still have quite a bit left. I wonder if the local nursing home would want it.

I use all the "yucky" yarn for test knitting patterns I design that way if I don't like it I didn't waste the good stuff, lol. And sometimes for a swatch of a new stitch, and for when my 6 year old niece wants to try to learn to knit or crochet yet again, LOL.

Someone on a "beer budget" will appreciate the "wine snob's" leftovers.

I'd think about using the Sayelle for a baby blanket. Sure looks like there is enough there.
