Dogs on Thursday

Last weekend Rudy went on his very first camping trip, and in one word~

RUDYLOVESCAMPING!

He was the perfect gentleman and little angel...he met lots of friends and experienced things he'd never done before.

This is interesting...

I have my toy basket, my favorite bed...my own tent...

...and Momma & Daddy's camper. Oh yeah!

We checked out the docks I saw fishies in the water...I tried to go in but Momma wouldn't let me.

Then there was this HUGE playground called a "beach" --

Where Momma let me go swimming...

...and play in the sand. I must say it doesn't taste very good at all!

...everyday there was something to do, and I must say this pup was tired!

to the point of total exhaustion! I didn't like sleeping in my crate because I could hear things going on outside..so, I slept with momma & daddy. I think they liked it as much as I did.

When we got home I discovered something I don't like about camping...

...getting a bath!!

Momma...when can we go to this place called camping again?

Whiskers on Wednesday~~

Ace would never have you know how much he missed Rudy this weekend but he did! He's really stayed close to all of us, even allowing Rudy to lay next to him in the floor!

Pssssssst~~

...is he still behind me?

Mother's Day is coming

...and I'm going to be ready!

I had the Fir Cone Wrap soaking last week.

It's still on the blocking wires...

Love the detail & the colors, though JoJoland Harmony is beautiful ~ I still don't like knitting with it...

...and SO glad this project is nearly complete (still have to weave in the ends) and in the mail. How long does it take for the USPS to get a package to Florida? Oh geez, what if it gets hung in one of those machines and is ripped to shreds???!!!!! I'll have a panic attack till it gets there for sure.

Music Monday

After a weekend of camping I simply have...

I just hope that "Peaceful Easy Feeling" will last through the week (or two if I'm lucky)!

Dogs on Thursday

Rudy's little Aunt & Uncle (aka Ellie & Fred) were gone most of the week last week, they went on their first beach trip...and Rudy missed them -- a lot!

We all know Rudy plays hard....but after just a short play date with Fred & Ellie~~

He passes out!!

Notice he has outgrown this bed, but we can't take it from him. This was his very first bed and he loves it...so he loves to hang over the edges, and sometimes he'll snuggle down in it where we'll totally over look him being in the room and start looking for him elsewhere!

Whiskers on Wednesday

Who's PeeOed??

...but then again who stays that way?

Ace had his yearly check-up yesterday (but of course he had to know something was up when the pet carrier came into the house). I've had concerns because of the amount of water he drinks these days. Then I was surprised to see that he'd lost 3 lbs...so I was sure something was wrong with him.

The blood work came back...

...the Dr. called to say that he's "competition drinking" with/against Rudy! His #'s are absolutely normal and in the Dr.'s words pretty darn amazing and impressive for a cat his age!

The only thing she had an extensive talk with him about was his "extracurricular activities" causing his back pain issues! We'll see if he listened to her...something tells me it went in one ear and out the other!

You know, I'm very surprised myself that he's as healthy as he is. I'm sure he didn't get much of that first mother's milk he needed to build antibodies...I thought for sure he'd be a sickly sort of beast all his life. I hope he's with us for another 17 years...wouldn't that be a record?

I missed last weeks WoW post, but I must comment on my Veterinarian, I owe them a lot of credit for the great care they've given to Ace, Rudy and my families pets. They are a fantastic group of Dr's who work together and give the compassion, care and concern about your pet. They treat them as if they are their own, that's really all one can ask for. I've visited vets in the past that are looking for the almighty $$$ not interacting at all with my pet, needless to say I never went back again. I found our current Vet about 20 (maybe more) years ago and feel like I'm a member of their family. All questions are answered, phone calls are returned in a timely manner and in my Mom's case they made that unfortunate house call...but it's nice to know that they cared enough to give Dolly the dignity of dying in her own home.

Have you found the perfect Vet for your pet? I hope so...

Happy Earth Day!!!!!

Movie Monday

It's baseball season and I'm throwing a "change-up" --

I watched a movie (one of my favorites) yesterday that made me think of doing this, 3 of my favorite Baseball movies!

First up..."The Rookie"
I love this movie because it's based on a true story and besides that it's a good one!

Second..."For The Love Of The Game"
another great story...and I love me some Kevin Costner!

Third..."Field of Dreams"
...more Kevin Costner and a fantastic story! Someday I'm going to Iowa to visit this place!

I'd love to be able to watch the old time greats play the game...and forget this "steroid" era! THIS is one of my favorite scenes...brings tears to my eyes everytime.

In no particular order...they're all a homerun in my book!

Dogs on Thursday

Another one of those weeks where I find it hard to post...

Easter was loads of fun for Rudy, though he wasn't too sure of his Boxer cousins...everyone got along just find.

Here they are getting their Easter eggs~

Duke~

Chance~

Milo wanted to play baseball~

Rudy....like Forrest Gump....just felt like "runnn-nning"~

Ellie just pestered everybody~

Fred was just plum tuckered out~

How was your Easter?

Music Monday

Yet another of my "unusual" music favorites! El McMeen is a fantastic finger guitarist...please don't ask how I discovered him, I can't even remember now. Hubby and I used some of his music for our Wedding.
I hope you enjoy as much as I do...

New Things~

Since I'm on a "yarn diet" that doesn't prevent me from buying accessories...does it?

Thanks to the perfect sales pitch from Stephanie and a very good sale price I bought myself a Lexie Barnes knitting bag...well actually it's my "everything" bag. Since I normally carry 3 bags with me to work every morning this remedies all that. It's my purse, knitting bag and work tote (for books and such), I can carry it everywhere. I likey...do you likey?

....and

I love surprises, even one I'd forgotten about! I won a contest from Robin and had forgotten about it, I came home the other day to find a package on my doorstep. When I read the label I got so excited...and boy does she know me! Everything was (or so it seemed) put together specifically for me and my taste. I'm sure you all know how much I love Scottish music and Bonnie Rideout, she included 2 CD's, Scarf Style book, a homemade stitch marker, really cute notepad and a bar of her handmade soap, which I absolutely love!

Hope everyone has a safe & Happy Easter weekend!

Dogs on Thursday

So much to post and not enough time...let's see what I can get done.

This past weekend Rudy's Best Friend was in town, the ENTIRE weekend was spent playing and running.

And when Milo went home -- Rudy passed out!

I'm a regular reader of Marie's blog down in Boone, NC...one of my most favorite places to go...She's a fantastic photographer and just about every photo she posts I know where she's standing when she takes it. She posted a week or so ago about a photographic technique that totally consumed me, Ttv--Through The Viewfinder--I HAD to give it a try...and let me tell you I've had fun. I won a Duaflex on Ebay for $8.00--made the prototype "contraption"--perfected it and now I'm ready to make the final one. I did manage to get a few pictures with it...of course Rudy had to get in on the action.
I love the effect this gives on the images, of course there's a major learning curve...sort of like rubbing your tummy and patting your head at the same time. You have to keep in mind everything is in reverse!

Tonight is Opening night for our Minor League baseball team....tickets--check; knitting--check; blanket/coat/gloves/coat--check (what the heck happened to Springtime?) I'M READY!!!

Oh...and I upped my Gallop 4 the Greenways goal again! Thanks again and again for all those who've contributed! I'm really excited about this 5K run!

Whiskers on Wednesday

Our local news (I hope this link works) ran a great story last week, I'm sharing in hopes that you either have this program or can encourage one to start...or maybe you know of someone in need of these services!
You'll remember my "Feral Cat Problem", which is still on going...but there may be hope now. In this time of high unemployment there are jobs opening up...that is if you are a feral cat.
Barn Cat Buddies is a program specifically for feral cats, those who can't be socialized to society but need shelter, care and food. The cats are throuroughly checked out by a Vet, spayed or neutered and put up for adoption. Since we live in farm country and plenty of barns need a cat or two this is absolutely perfect! If you know of anyone who needs a good mouser have them check out their website or give them a call.

Now on to the "Non-mouser" that lives in our house...

Question--What is this look all about?

Answer--Rudy's on HIS Mom & Dad's bed (obviously it's prior to me making up the bed)!

Mama...make him play with me!!

Believe it or not...

I have started another project, the endless stole/wrap is driving me crazy!
I decided on March 20th--the 1st day of Spring--to cast on a new pair of socks. So, what's more appropriate than Spring Forward socks in the prettiest Spring colored yarn in my stash? This came as a gift...from "Down Unda"--my buddy Terri sent it to me for Christmas. Isn't it pretty?! It's from Wired for Fibre (formerly known as Live 2 Knit).

Of course, I'm knitting these toe-up...which may be an experiment, we'll have to see what happens when I get to the gusset. As I said I cast on for it on the 1st day of Spring but that doesn't mean I stuck to it, in fact, I didn't really get going to this point until this weekend. I have to be careful here and not get too involved on this project (even though I'm loving this yarn!), Mother's Day is looming and this stole/wrap (aka Bowl of Spaghetti Project) needs to be done in time for mailing it prior to Mother's Day!

Music Monday~~Opening Day Edition

I had the idea to post THIS song, but then it hit me--

Enjoy...

Then there's also THIS one (reminds me of my brother)!

Tomorrow...I'll actually have a WIP post!

What Can I Say?

...except

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

Check out my Goal...

I set my goal low because I never expected to get the response I've gotten so far...with just a little more than a month to go for fundraising I may have to rethink my goal. Counting the pledged donation coming in the mail I will have exceeded the $100!

THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU -- THANK YOU!!!

*ETA-As of this afternoon I exceeded my goal, therefore I'm upping the ante...I've changed my goal to $200. Will you help me make it? Thanks again!

Dogs on Thursday

We've been experiencing lots of rain here lately, with that comes a very bored puppy who LOVES his walks, yet can't do so in the rain. So...we resort to play dates with his new aunt & uncle, Ellie & Fred! They are almost as big as him and already weigh more than him. It's so funny to watch how they interact with each other. Initially they are so excited to see Rudy the inundate him to the point that Rudy has to put limitations on what he will endure (those little needle like teeth hurt).

Then the play begins!

Fred is a lover...so sweet, very vocal (he whines a lot) and lags behind when they start running through the house. You sort of hear his theme song...doh-de-doh-doh-doh!

Then there's Ellie...

Demon girl! She's as rough as they come, hits Rudy first when he comes in and is the first to be sat down by him. But she is Rudy's favorite romp partner...aside from Milo when he's in town.

They are~~

THE THREE AMIGOS!

In our family the "Fur Babies" are included in everything--so Easter should be fun...lets see we have 2 Bassett Hounds, 2 Boxers and 2 Shih Tzus!!

Oh...and Rudy's ready for The Final Four!

I had planned on running a 5K this coming Saturday but I really haven't gotten to train like I feel I should have so I will get to my training for my NEXT race on May 9th.
You will notice a new "ticker" on my sidebar, this is a fundraiser for my next race, Gallop for the Greenways. Please don't feel obligated in these economic times but if by chance you are able to and would like to sponsor me please feel free...your donation is tax deductible.
I do most of my running (and walking Rudy) on one of the local Greenways, the localities have worked really hard to spruce up and create these Greenways, I'm excited to participate in this 5K if it helps keep them up for all to enjoy.

Whiskers on Wednesday~~

It's a new month and I, Ace the Cat, have decided to make some changes around here...

I vow to be nicer, more loveable and generous. I promise to love my mom, dad and Rudy more. I'll try not to cause momma to sneeze. I will no longer "love" her robe (since she took the pillow and blanket away from me I found her fuzzy robe)...I will take my "hairball hacking" to the kitchen since the floor is easier for momma to clean up. Rudy is so cute, I love my furry brother...and will spend more time cuddling with him.

APRIL FOOLS!!!!

(you didn't really this I was serious did you?)
