Civil War Shawl KAL

Civil War Shawl KAL progress...

Can you believe it...I actually finished my rows 1-45 prior to the deadline....11:45 pm last night! Fifteen minutes before midnight!

I feel as though I'm knitting with thread...and using size 2 (US) needles!! I could use larger needles but I have several reasons for my madness!

My MIL has a beautiful bedspread (full size) knit by her mother that I've always admired. I wanted this silk yarn...so as a twisted sort of tribute of my admiration for Nan-Nan's perseverance of knitting a full size bedspread out of thread and my Great-Grandmother's ability to crochet with thread I decided to go the distance! My shawl will end up smaller than others but considering the finished size of this piece (72" in diameter)

I'll end up with a nice shawl. This will match my Wedding Dress...which is now my Sunday Best! In Victorian times it was good luck to be wed in blue!

Now...I hope that this will be finished by November and go towards my NascarKnitters points! It will count as 300 grams but I hope that the "difficulty" factor will add more points!

While we are on that subject I need to give my totals for the week...
One thing I forgot to do was take pictures before putting them in the mail...oops! (I think I have some older pics I'll have to look for)
I destashed a total of 414 grams!! Of the 3 recipients only 2 have blogs...hopefully they will verify this fact in a posting on their blogs...I don't want to ruin the surprise if they haven't received their package yet!
I worked on so much spinning last week that my knitting fell off...therefore...destashing was in order! I was hoping that spinning would count but I guess that's why it's called NascarKnitters and not NascarSpinners! I'll just have to suck up the lost points because I LOVE spinning!!

Thanks to everyone for their thoughtful comments from Thursday...I'm much better, all it took was some quality time with my knitting & fiber...all is well!

Well...gotta go clean house so I can do what I want to do....I bet you'll never guess what that is!

Keep on Knittin', Spinnin' and Walkin'!!! Maybe today I can get in some Pickin'!

How beautiful Robin! I can't wait to see the finished shawl!! Now this leads to another question..do you and your husband participate in re-enactments? My husband is a CW memorabilia collector..primarily photography.
Happy Knitting~~
